CDT Research Student discussing their work

In April 2014, the UK Government’s Science Minister, David Willetts, announced that the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) would support the creation of a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Catalysis.

Its aim was to address some of society’s biggest challenges through catalysis:

  • clean energy generation
  • environmental clean-up of air
  • water and sustainable manufacturing

An interdisciplinary programme led by the Cardiff Catalysis Institute (one of Cardiff University’s major research institutes), together with the University of Bath and University of Bristol, was developed to offer postgraduate training in catalysis and reaction engineering.

This is a completely unique programme designed across three Universities, each with their own speciality in catalysis and a strong focus on industrial needs and requirements for the future.
